Origin and History of the Liquid Marijuana Cocktail

Liquid Marijuana has become a popular cocktail throughout the 2000s. These are the cocktails that are made from Rum and blue curacao. Initially the cocktails were only served in bars and nightclubs, but now it has become a trend all over to try different recipes at home and share the ideas with your dear ones. 

Ingredients of the Liquid Marijuana Drink

• ½ oz of coconut rum or Malibu
• ½ oz of watermelon liqueur or Midori
• ½ oz of Blue Curacao
• ½ oz of Captain Morgan rum or a spiced rum
• Three oz of pineapple juice
• Lemon-lime soda or Sprite (no more than a splash)
• Ice
• Pineapple wedge or cherry for garnish

How to Make a Liquid Marijuana Cocktail

1. In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker add some ice.
2. Add 1 oz of Coconut Rum. The most common coconut rum available in the market is Malibu which is the one I have used here as well.
3. Next add 1 oz of Spiced Rum. The most common spiced rum available in the market is Captain Morgan or Bacardi but I have used a cheaper brand here – Largo Bay.
4. Next add 1 oz of Melon Liqueur. The most common melon liqueur available in the market is Midori. But it is a touch bit fancy and expensive. So I chose the local brand available near me. I reside in California and Mr. Stacks is the one I got.
5. Next add 1 oz of Blue Curacao liqueur. Blue Curacao is actually an orange liqueur but blue in color. This along with the melon liqueur gives it the “weed” color we are looking for.
6. Add 1 oz of pineapple juice.
7. Add 1 oz of sweet and sour or 1oz of the juice extracted from a lime and a lemon.
8. Shake well and pour into your shot glasses. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes and Tips:

1. Make sure to store the mixture in the fridge and take it out right before serving.
2. None of the drinks are carbonated or delicate, so mix all the ingredients in advance in large quantities.
