The world has been absolutely crazy in the past couple of years. While COVID-19 forced everything to suddenly shut down, we all found ourselves doing a lot more than we were used to.

We've all become avid multi-taskers, whether we like it or not. Our homes went from being our sanctuaries to being the home base for everything. Work, school, leisure, everything was all bunched up in one place. With all of that cluttering up our homes, we've all found ourselves with cluttered minds too.

Finding yourself dealing with extreme levels of stress in a time like this is expected, but you can't let that be your permanent state; you have to do something about it.

One of the best ways to declutter your mind and manage stress is Mindfulness. In this post, we're going to be talking about mindfulness and how you can use apps like Yours App to practice mindfulness at home without needing anyone's help!

First up, What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is exactly as the name suggests, a process where we become more mindful of what's going on around us. When things in the world are moving far too fast, you can take a step back, breathe and centre yourself. With Mindfulness, you can start paying attention to the present. Everything that's actually going on around you. Take in all of the input, and process it in a way that doesn't overwhelm you.

Mindfulness – An essential for mental and physical health

Stress can have a direct effect on one's mental health. A person who's constantly under immense amounts of stress will find themselves giving into it. At one point or another, their entire body starts reacting to the copious amounts of stress they're under.

High levels of stress can affect one's heart, brain, gut and most of the other organs too. Leading to the entire body falling victim to it. When you're practising mindfulness, you can lower the stress levels you subject your own body to. In turn, you'll have much lower levels of stress which will improve both your mental and physical health altogether!

Ways you can practice Mindfulness

Now that we've been over how important mindfulness is, let's take a look at some of the easiest ways you can practice mindfulness too!

1. Breathe Right

This is something that's often overlooked. However, breathing right is one of the best ways to centre yourself in times of need! All you need to do to breathe right. Take a few minutes out in the morning. Sit up on a chair, close your eyes and just empty everything out of your mind. Then, focus on your breathing. Take deep breaths in and out. This will allow you to centre yourself, so you can carry on the rest of the day without having to fight through the mental clutter all the time!

2. Eat Right

A lot of people find comfort in food when they're super stressed out. This is something that makes sense because eating releases serotonin in your brain. However, mindlessly eating will just have you binging without really getting the benefit of the food at all. Instead of just chewing away, think about every bite you take, immerse yourself into the experience and enjoy the entire meal. This way, you will be able to get the nutritional benefits while involving all of your senses. It'll be an actual break from the hustle and bustle of life, and you'll be able to nourish your body and your mind!

3. Relax right

If there's one thing we've all universally gotten really bad at, it's relaxing. It's getting increasingly hard for everyone to be able to close off the day and head to bed relaxed and at peace. Most of it has to do with the fact that since the home has become home-base, it's hard to shut off the “day” and head into the relaxing night. One of the easiest ways to relax right is to use a Mindfulness App like the Yours App! With it, you'll be able to find guides that will help you stay mindful throughout the day and night. If you're just trying to wind down, try the meditation rituals or the yoga practices! Can't seem to fall asleep? Try the sleep stories or soundscapes! There are even stories and soundscapes for kids to try! No matter who the user may be, if they're looking to practice Mindfulness and relax right, this app will help them do it!

Say goodbye to stress with Mindfulness today!

Now that you know what Mindfulness is and how you can kick the stress out of yourself with it, all you need to do is find the method that works for you and stick with it! You'll find that making the one tiny change in your life will totally transform the way you do everything because you'll be a better, happier, and healthier version of yourself when insane stress levels can't weigh you down!

How often do you feel you are falling in the darkest pits of stress? It's more than one can ever imagine. But did you know exercise as stress relief is one of the most mindful things you can adopt? At some point, you get diagnosed with a disease, mental or physical, you will stress out. It’s natural to worry about every event but stress is not an external factor i.e. it is controllable.

Stress varies for several reasons but exerting the pressure by a cardio workout routine or even with yoga gives some eminence of control over your mind and body. Getting just medical treatment is not enough when it comes to stress, which is why exercise as stress relief is a great way to deal with things.

Exercise as stress relief is the plausible solution for all…but how?

Stress is distorting mentally and physically. It is believed that physical exertions are the best way to recover from stress. That being true, one question pops in mind: do physical stress rules out mental stress?

Exercise promotes relaxation. People suffering from stress and anxiety usually lash out on others, this happens when they are irritated or either tend to get angry. Instead of lashing out and making others suffer without good reasoning, exercise will act as physical stress for you. It keeps your mind singularly motivated and produces endorphins too which keeps you at runners high.

The sense of well-being is what people experience after undergoing a session of exercise. So the answer to the earlier questions is Yes, any physical activity (including exercise) will take off your mind from worries and other stress. Exercise requires focus while you are doing one set of pushups or even cycling it engages your brain with the physical task you are doing. It doesn’t leave room for any other worry for the time being.

Do you feel better after doing an exercise? Well, that's how you know exercise as stress relief really works.

Qualitative benefits of a daily exercise

Who says workout is only about losing weight? Get your facts straight; because it's not only about losing weight, it's about being mentally, emotionally, and physically fit. If you think “mood booster” is the best benefit you get from doing a regular exercise then let's enlighten you towards some other qualitative benefits:

Stronger bones and muscles

Improve the immunity and reduces the risk of getting ill

Helps to control blood pressure

Controlled blood pressure means an improvement in blood circulation

Improves the sleep-deprived routine and you sleep like a baby

Energy levels boost to the top

Makes you confident and happy too!

Now, if you experience these all then you are moving on the right track. Our body reacts to external forces. Stress effects weight too, either you lose it or gain it. Similarly, it affects your emotions and feelings from foul play to the witty you.

How much exercise do you need in a day?

At a moderate level, 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity suffice for the week. It’s easier to break down exercising on a 24-hour basis. This means a 30-minute exercise as stress relief is more than enough, five times a week.

Your heavy workload can go diagonal to a 30-minute exercise routine. so you can improvise with 10-minute aerobic exercise regularly instead of a standard 30-minute exercise. Another way is to divide the 30 minutes into a 10-minute break throughout the day. This helps you stay focus on your work gives the much-needed break to your mind and as well as body.

This means you are giving your muscles a challenge to corporate with your will and stamina to release the stress levels into physical exertion. This is why major corporates like GM (General Motors) implemented a diet and exercise strategy for their employees that ultimately led to an increase in productivity.

Types of stress redundant exercises you ought to do!

There are lots of ways you can release emotional and physical stress. However, not every exercise is meant as a relief from stress some may overload the thinking pattern and burn you before time. so how do you choose which exercise is suitable for you? it all depends on the physical activity that helps you keep balance in your routine and lightens your mood like;

Biking

Jogging

Running

Swimming or skating (yes, skating is also an exercise!)

Play long tennis/badminton

Learn to dance

Rowing

These are just the top of the chart to name a few exercises. Now, what is the most common factor in the above-mentioned exercises?

Easy to do

Low difficulty mode

Engages muscles and limb coordination

Strengthen the muscles!

This is what makes exercise the best therapy for stress relief. Even if you feel you are moving towards binge eating, adopting exercise as stress relief will do wonders for your mind and body. You can choose whichever exercise that suits you best or you can always go to a doctor to recommend a health chart to follow for fitness goals.

How to put exercise as a stress relief to work?

It’s easy to start with a generous routine with simple steps;

Contact your doctor

Always and foremost seek the consultation of your doctor. Especially if you haven’t exercised in a while, you can talk about which exercises to start and so on.

Start with easy steps

To build your fitness level learns to walk before you run. Keep things simple in the beginning and don't get overly excited otherwise, you may be open to some ground injuries.

Do the exercise you love the most

As mentioned earlier, you can start with any exercise that is your most favorite. Exercise doesn’t have to be boring you know?

Whatever you do, do it with motivation and determination. Stress is one of the many factors that can ruin your personality so don’t let it trigger your emotions and get the best you. you can overrun this by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
