New York is a big place and there are so many things to do. It's honestly overwhelming. You can easily spend your entire summer going to concerts, plays, sporting events, and more. Here are a few cool ideas for things to do during the summer.

See the Yankees play at Yankee Stadium

The New York Yankees are America’s team, so if you want to feel like you're part of something bigger than yourself, then head over to Yankee Stadium! They play through September 6th after which they will move into their new stadium at West Side Yard.

Shop at the World Trade Center Mall

With more than 100 stores and restaurants, including Neiman Marcus Last Call, Forever 21, and H&M, the World Trade Center mall is one of New York's largest shopping destinations. Plus, there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or have some fun with your kids (like LEGOLAND Discovery Center New York).

SummerStage Free Concert Series

SummerStage is an outdoor concert series that takes place every summer at Rumsey Playfield, Central Park's Great Lawn. It features music from all genres, including pop, rock, and jazz. There will be free concerts every day until August 15.

Shakespeare in the Park

The Public Theater's free annual outdoor festival, celebrating its 50th year, once again makes Shakespeare accessible to all. This year's production is a modern take on A Midsummer Night's Dream, featuring music from the Grateful Dead, Leonard Bernstein, and more. The performance begins at 7 pm each night and takes place at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.

Attend New York Comic Con (NYCC)

The New York Comic Con is an annual convention that brings together fans from all over the world who are interested in comics, television shows, movies, games, anime, etc., to celebrate all things pop culture! You can meet your favorite stars from your favorite shows and movies or just buy some cool stuff from vendors around town. Most importantly though, it’s fun!

Hit the Gym

Workout in an air-conditioned gym. Blink Fitness has locations all over New York and state-of-the-art facilities. Workout with weights, walk on the treadmill or ride a stationary bike. Work out alone or bring a friend.  It’s a great way to stay cool while you get in shape.

Head Over to Coney Island

Coney Island is known as the “birthplace of American amusement parks.” It's filled with rides and games like the famous Cyclone rollercoaster, which was built in 1927 and has been featured in movies like “The Warriors” and “Saturday Night Fever.” Other attractions include the Coney Island Museum and the New York Aquarium.

Go camping in Harriman State Park

Nestled between New York City and Albany, Harriman State Park offers campers everything they need for a relaxing weekend getaway — from hiking trails to swimming holes. The park also has cabins that can accommodate up to eight people per cabin, making it an ideal destination for large groups looking to spend some time together.
