Self-care is vital to mental health

Many people mistakenly think of makeup as something frivolous or even self-indulgent. In reality, makeup can help manage stress levels and help us connect with our cultural heritage and sexuality. Regardless of why we use makeup, we should practice self-care and respect our body’s limits. Self-care is about taking care of your body, mind, and spirit. It’s not something to be dismissed as a luxury but should be a priority for everyone.

Natural makeup is gentler on the skin

The ingredients in natural makeup are often gentler on the skin than synthetic ones. Cocoa butter, for example, is an effective moisturizer that provides essential fatty acids for healthy skin. Liquid foundations may contain cocoa butter and other nutrient-rich oils and can also give the skin a smoother look. Antioxidant-rich foods such as white tea, grapes, and apricots also benefit the skin. Pomegranate seeds, for instance, can inhibit elastase and collagenase, two enzymes that break down skin integrity and reduce its elasticity.

Because natural makeup contains less chemicals, it may also be better for your skin. Conventional makeup contains irritants that cause acne and other skin problems. Natural makeup is less likely to clog pores and contains beneficial nutrients and antioxidants, and these can also protect against the damaging effects on the environment. Natural makeup is gentler on the skin but can be more expensive. While it can seem overwhelming, natural makeup is worth the effort.

Evens out skin tone
