Tom had to appear larger than life to appear as masked villain Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises. But, to achieve that goal, he needed to add more size to his muscular body.

Tom needed 30-pound additional weight to get close to 200 pounds. Hardy included a lot of body fat, and another diet was the most significant factor.

The method actor Tom added the weight to his body quickly by increasing his limits and adding half a pound per week. And to sustain that kind of weight, he had to make a challenging workout routine.

While in Venom, Tom’s character may have been CGI a lot, but Tom did his fair share of work to prep for the role. Tom’s workout routine included jiu-jitsu, boxing, mixed martial arts, and hard training up to five times a week.

At the Venom and Bane Warrior, he worked out twice per day with pro-MMA fighters, including Dan Edwards and Nathan Jones. Tom also worked out with Mark Mene.

On Tuesday, within the five different exercises, Tom targets the lower body.

Friday: Upper Body Workout

On Friday, Tom hits the upper body and performs six exercises.
