5 Tips To Improve Patient’s Safety During Consultation

hi

When the pandemic crisis hit, everyday tasks that once seemed so natural and easy have suddenly become much more complicated. A lot more effort and involvement were needed to complete these. Furthermore, patients putting on a mask, applying hand sanitizer, and using silicon gloves became part of our daily routine. You can easily buy online all these from Planethalohealth.com.

Healthcare facilities took extra safety measures to improve the level of hygiene and decrease the risk of contamination. These actions made a difference for a lot of people, both among staff and patients. During these trying times, having to deal with so much stress and daily pressure, many professionals Patient’s decided to look for other career paths or change their current positions.

Healthcare workers can still easily find physician jobs in Atlanta, although other cities might not have such a welcoming job market. Health and safety are top priorities for all of us at the moment. Therefore, we should all acknowledge that medical staff was among the most affected during the pandemic.

Here are five tips to improve the safety of patients during a consultation:

1.Take Time Between Appointments

Taking a break of at least 15 minutes between consecutive patients is a must. It was a general recommendation before, but it has become mandatory nowadays. Take this time to sanitize your hands, clean the surfaces, and open the windows to let in a bit of fresh air.

2. Use Video Calls When Possible

One positive thing about the pandemic is that it allowed us to eliminate unnecessary medical visits to the doctor’s office. However, not all consultations can be done remotely. If you have general check-ups with your patients, you should make sure that you have a steady internet connection and go for a video call instead of a traditional appointment.

3. Mark The Spots for Stationing in The Office

There are different strategies you can employ to ensure that there is enough space between two patients. A pretty standard practice is to leave an empty seat between two chairs. Also, you can order stickers and place these on the floor to mark the spots where people can wait before entering your office.

4. Offer Hand Sanitizer and Disposable Wear

This might sound redundant, but there is nothing wrong with having a steady supply of hand sanitizer, disposable plastic gloves, and foot coverage. Routine cleaning and disinfection procedures are very well regulated at the moment and fall  under the responsibility of medical staff. Some patients might be less cautious than others and do not bring any protective equipment when entering a healthcare facility.

If you want to seem extra-caring and thoughtful, you can even opt for personalized notebooks and pens. These will help people remember your recommendations after finishing the consultation. It can also work as a great branding strategy.

5.Careful Labeling of Medication and Documents

A lot of patients, especially the elderly, might get confused when they are under Patient’s treatment. They might use a bit of help with both the pills schedule and their documents. If you can invest in some sticky labels that patients can write on, it will be of great help to them. Marking every pill case with the administration method is really useful.

A personalized folder with the name of every patient in capital letters will help you remember their case as soon as they walk into your office. You also eliminate any possibility of misplacing documents from one folder to another when you store them for a long period.

Final Thoughts

Nowadays, all physicians have the responsibility to go the extra mile and set up the office for Covid-19 prevention. It will also help to stay well-organized and space out your consultations to avoid getting overcrowded. Reopening your normal schedule and using the full capacity of your office can take a while. Now that the Covid Patient’s scare slowly starts to fade away, there are numerous ways in which you can start to transition to more relaxed measures.
