How To Set Goals and Achieve Them in A World Full of Scorns

Achieving greatness is a term that fills our heads with various ranging ideas. When we hear about it, a rush of adrenaline courses through our body. Our brain is filled with ideas while our heart is pumping blood at a greater pace.

Everyone wants to be great. They want to be invincible. The idea itself is enticing enough but the journey behind it is not an easy one. The journey to greatness is the one that differentiates between people who can and people who can’t. 

Everyone has the potential to be great, to make a name for themselves. However, achieving greatness and embodying greatness are two different things.

 

This is the extra mile that not many take. Having a good life is fine, but having a great life is extraordinary. And by hopping on this journey of greatness you can ensure and secure that life for you. 

look at the world with a new and open mind

  • Creating a mindset

You cannot let your past define you. It sounds cliché but it is the truth. A person is not the same as he was an hour before. You change, accept it, and move forward. 

Your perception of the world changes, while your environment doesn’t. Change allows us to create a path that we want to achieve. When you look at yourself, don’t see the 20 something or 30 something individual who has responsibilities. Look at yourself as an individual who has a lot to gain. An individual who has a lot to achieve. 

Don’t focus on your faults or your shortcomings. Envision your future self,  as a successful one. The one who achieved greatness. The one who is exactly where he wanted to be. 

If I see myself in the mirror today, I'll see myself as the successful renowned entrepreneur of tomorrow. Open your mind to possibilities. And don’t let your past or present be a hindrance to your future.

  • Developing a concrete vision

Who do you see yourself as at the start of the journey? Now, who do you see yourself as when you’ve achieved yourself?

Think of a concrete vision and steps you need to ensure to achieve that goal. Note where you lack in certain areas and overcome those. 

Don’t go for something at the spur of the moment, think about it. Think about it deeply. When you are sure of what you want you will work hard to achieve it. 

Scrutinize your personality and choose the goal that suits you the best in the long run. why not let that goal shape your mind and hone your skills too? It's a win-win situation.

Don’t get upset when you set out to achieve your goal, no one follows you or supports you. The path to achieving greatness is full of hurdles, pit stops, and mirages. 

You cannot let these hurdles slow you down, nor can you take a pit stop at a town that isn’t your destination. When you do start your journey, others will separate themselves from you just because they weren’t meant to be on the same path as you. With time you learn that their hopes are different than yours. 

Along the journey you will meet new people for however long that might be, learn to cherish them for as long as they are there. So, don’t let any person discourage you from pursuing what you want. 

It may not feel okay at first, but every mile will groom you with an understanding of why it happens. 

  • Keep an open mind

Achieving greatness comes under the unconventional banner; to achieve something, you have to break the traditional norms of the society. It allows you to see beyond the necessities and hardships of life. It shows your greatness.

You need to have an unshakable belief system. Don’t let the condition around you control you. Avoid toxicity and negativity before it can poison your mind. 

“Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve”

Believe in yourself, even when nobody else does. Shake your fears away, and create possibilities for your future. You are your worst enemy and your biggest supporter. Remember that.

  • Don’t make excuses

You cannot simply put this on the backtrack because you got busy or you had some other things to do. Your future doesn’t come second. Being busy is just an excuse. An excuse that we tell ourselves when we want to slack off and give ourselves a break.

So yeah, it’s easy to lose focus, to be as lazy as a turtle, but let me remind you, it won’t let you go anywhere. start with short, smart goals. take a simple step at a time, even if it's about getting up early in the morning.

  • Be committed:  

Now that you have started your journey, you cannot simply leave it halfway through. You have to be committed to yourself, to your future, and your destiny.

To be great, you have to achieve greatness. And for that to happen you have to pursue excellence at a determined pace. Don’t go for being nice or good. Nobody will remember that. Be the best at what you do and achieve. 

The price for achieving greatness is not small but the result is visceral and unrivaled. 

  • Attachment and resentment

If you are too much attached to your past and present, you cannot make it to the future you want.

Don’t become too attached to your environment or your present. Because when change happens you won’t be able to bear it. And you will start resenting yourself. This simply cannot happen. 

Sometimes we have to do certain things that are necessary for our survival. But that doesn’t mean we have to like them. So, don’t resent yourself, just keep your focus on your goal and exert your whole energy into the cause.

 

 

“If we cannot see the possibility of greatness, how can we dream it?”

So, ask yourself, are you willing to walk the path of greatness? To run the extra mile required? Can you achieve excellence and greatness? Or are you not courageous enough to work on a better future vision of yourself?
